History
Nestled along the winding stretch of the Rogue River, Tu Tu’ Tun Lodge emerged as a beacon of hospitality in June 1970, a vision realized by Ralph and Pauline Priestly, alongside Herm and Jerrine Ellingson. From its inception, the lodge exuded a charm uniquely intertwined with the rich history of the Oregon coastline.
Over the coming decades a group of dedicated inn keepers would usher Tu Tu’ Tun into a new era of hospitality. Overtime, artists, fisherman, poets, and adventurers came to call Tu Tu' Tun a second home. The lodge's original architecture, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright's inspired designs or a revisitation of Mission style with Asian influences, remains timeless. Cedar beams, fir wainscoting, and river rock fireplaces echo the natural textures of the Pacific Northwest, while grass cloth walls pay homage to the traditional plant weavings of the Tututni people.
