Racines Dinner on the Rogue River
6 PM | $125 Wine | $225–$250 Total Per Guest
An evening where the wild edges of Oregon meet the refined heart of Burgundy.
We invite you to gather with us by the Rogue River for an intimate summer dinner in celebration of Racines—the California project of renowned Burgundian winemaker Étienne de Montille. With Étienne joining us in person, this evening offers a rare opportunity to explore the philosophy and precision behind Racines wines, shaped by his deep-rooted commitment to site, restraint, and longevity.
Set beneath the open sky, the dinner features a vertical tasting of Racines Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills, Bentrock, and Sanford & Benedict vineyards—wines that speak fluently of place and time. Each flight is paired with a thoughtful course drawn from the season: oysters with pickled ramps and chives, sesame-seared salmon with yuzu ponzu, grilled picanha with summer truffles, and a curated cheese course to close.

An Outdoor Guided Tasting Overlooking the Rogue River
Before the candles are lit and dinner begins, we gather outdoors—with the river just below—for a rare guided tasting that traces the arc of Étienne de Montille’s work across continents.
This seated, educational tasting offers a comparative exploration of Racines and Domaine de Montille, highlighting site, vintage, and structure through the lens of Sta. Rita Hills and Burgundy. Étienne will lead the conversation, offering insight into farming decisions, cellar choices, and the philosophies that shape each wine.
We’ll taste side-by-side expressions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from landmark vineyards: Wenzlau, Sanford & Benedict, La Rinconada, and Bentrock in California, alongside benchmark Burgundian terroirs like Meursault “Saint Christophe” and Beaune 1er Cru “Les Grèves”.

A River Room Dinner with Étienne de Montille
The conversation continues—this time in the stillness of the River Room, where every pour carries the weight of place and time. After Saturday’s riverside Racines dinner—a celebration of new-world clarity and coastal light—we gather in the River Room of the lodge for a more intimate exploration of lineage, structure, and the quiet conviction of time.
Hosted by Étienne de Montille, this candlelit dinner traces the arc of his family’s domaine—one of the most storied in Burgundy—through magnum-poured vintages of Puligny-Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, Volnay, and Vosne-Romanée. These are wines of remarkable restraint and character, designed to evolve slowly, and shown here in dialogue across decades.
The setting is warm, reflective—designed to draw focus to the cellar, the terroir, and the philosophy behind each bottle. The menu follows suit: a chilled melon gazpacho layered with serrano ham and herbs, handmade cavatelli with pancetta and mint, kabuta pork over cannellini and salsa verde, and a thoughtful cheese course to close.

Together, the two evenings offer a rare and personal window into Étienne’s dual lens—California and Burgundy, new and old, riverbank and cellar. If Saturday was expansive and elemental, Sunday is grounded, deliberate, and quietly unforgettable.
Seating is very limited. Designed for those who seek connection, context, and wines with soul.
